We aim to refurbish and redevelop the Town Hall for the benefit of the Community of Moffat and District
Moffat Town Hall is a Grade 2 listed, building built in 1827 as the Baths Hall for Moffat Spa
There have been some changes to the building, but little in the way of major refurbishment
The Hall was sold to Moffat Burgh Council under the estate of the Hope-Johnstone family [local landowners] in 1966
The Hall is now owned and managed by Dumfries and Galloway Council
It is in a prominent position in the centre of the High Street, and is a natural ‘centre point ‘ for the Town
Latest News
As a result of funding support from Dumfries and Galloway LEADER Programme, Dumfries and Galloway Council and Scottish Power Renewables, the Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of a Project Manager, Gerard Godfrey, to continue the forward progress of the Project to refurbish and redevelop the Town Hall. Gerard has a huge experience of working on community projects, including managing the Museum of Lead mining at Wanlockhead. He had also previously worked for many years in the Economic Development Department at Dumfries and Galloway Council. Gerard’s work will include obtaining further funding for the Project, working alongside the Council in developing the plans, and working with the Community in enhancing their involvement.

This latter work has already started with a group of senior students from Moffat Academy who are working with the Trust to look at a variety of aspects of the Project, in particular how the redeveloped Town Hall can provide support to young people in the Town.
