• Aim
of the Project: to refurbish and redevelop the Town Hall
for the benefit of the Community of Moffat and District
• Vision:
- To provide a vibrant centre for the people of Moffat and
District and visitors
- To provide a genuinely multifunctional space with extended
opening hours where people will wish to come to and to spend
time in
- To provide a one-stop ‘customer service centre’ which
includes Council services, library, tourist information,
event bookings, advice etc
- To provide a range of events which are attractive to audiences
- To aid in the maintenance and regeneration of Moffat as both
a residential and tourist destination
- To ensure financial success and continuity for the future
• Facilities to be included:
- Council services
- Civil weddings
- Library
- IT facilities, including training
- Public toilets
- Coffee shop / café facilities
- Flexible meeting spaces to meet a variety of community needs,
including health and social care, youth, concerts, dances etc
- Commercial bookings, eg weddings, small conferences, markets
- Full kitchen
- Full audiovisual facilities

Working with D&G Council:
• Create a ‘win-win’ situation:
- to provide up to date good quality facilities for the community
- ditto for council and library services
- to enable refurbishment and retention of the building for
the future, and thus to remove the liability from the Council,
and
prevent a ‘second Mercury Hotel’ scenario
- provide an economically viable solution for all parties
- expanded and extended hours for the library [additional revenue
required]

Scotland have offered £250000 plus more to identify

- A member of Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations
- A member of the UK Association of Building Preservation Trusts
- Considerable progress within less than 2 years’ existence
- Contingency plans should the Trust fail
- ‘Decamping’ whilst work is carried out
